The Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Canada (BSC) is an essential vehicle for the dissemination of current research in the field of biophysics. It highlights recent contributions of biophysical approaches to molecular and cellular biology, biotechnologies, medicine, drug discovery, biosensor technology and materials science. Each year, this meeting attracts over 200 trainees and researchers from across Canada, fostering networking and collaborations by allowing in person discussions between often geographically distant research groups.
The 2027 Annual Meeting of the BSC will be hosted by the University of Waterloo in partnership with the University of Guelph and Wilfrid Laurier University. The numerous research institutes and industry partners from these institutions form a dynamic research community, providing an ideal environment for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of new research partnerships.
BSC 2027 will be an in-person, multi-day meeting designed to foster scientific exchange, collaboration, and community building. The program is expected to include a trainee symposium, keynote and invited presentations, contributed talks, poster sessions, networking events, professional development opportunities, and industry engagement. Scientific themes will span molecular, cellular, and biomedical biophysics, including computational approaches, drug discovery, imaging, neuroscience, aging, nanobiotechnology, quantum biology, and artificial intelligence. The meeting will also feature programming focused on teaching, learning, and science communication, creating opportunities to share best practices in biophysics education and public engagement. Together, these activities will support scientific discovery, mentorship, and the continued growth of Canada’s biophysics community.
