The Biophysical Society of Canada (BSC) is delighted to announce that Drs. Jenifer Thewalt and Nancy Forde are co-recipients of the 2018 Michèle Auger Award for Exceptional Service. During their tenure, the BSC has grown by more than an order of magnitude, from roughly 20 paying members in 2013 to roughly 350 in 2017. This outstanding growth is the result of long hours spent on outreach activities, as well as many more dedicated to coordinating membership subscriptions and payments, etc. Both Jenifer and Nancy performed indispensable roles implementing the on-line membership system now available on the new BSC website. Nancy, in particular, worked tirelessly with the web developers to iron out bugs in the membership platform, as well as many more hours guiding BSC members through the web transformation. In addition, Jenifer served as BSC president in 2005 and organized the first BSC mixer at the American Biophysical Society meeting. This first mixer was a big success, and is now a well-established tradition that annually brings together Canadian biophysicists at the Biophysical Society meeting. Last but not least, Jenifer and Nancy are leading the organization of the 4th Annual BSC meeting in Vancouver. They have put together an outstanding program that is attracting a major cohort of national and international attendees. The BSC thanks both Jenifer and Nancy for their hours of dedication and commitment to the BSC!
