Congratulations to Adree Khondker, recent winner of the student research achievement award (SRAA) in Membrane Structure & Assembly at the 62nd annual meeting of the Biophysical Society in San Francisco.
Adree is a third year undergraduate student at McMaster University pursuing an (Hons.) Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with a specialization in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences. Over the past four years, Adree has worked with Dr. Maikel Rheinstadter, with whom he has already published an impressive seven papers on various topics ranging from antibiotic resistance to physical chemistry. For the SRAA Award, Adree presented a novel mechanism for peptide-induced kidney damage, and the ways by which membrane cholesterol may inhibit this damage (Biophys J., 113 (9), 2016-2028).
